Are you going to the largest Digital Asset Management Conference of 2015?

Historically, the largest DAM specific conference in the world takes place in New York City every year.

Henry Stewart DAM Conferences occur in a number of major cities, however the capital of DAM, like it or not, is still New York City. Hundreds of DAM professionals converge like beehive in Manhattan each year to network and to share ideas for a few days, whether those people are based in the New York City area or not.

On Wednesday, May 6, 2015 there are:

  • 5 pre-conference tutorial sessions (these are extra)
  • 1 pre-conference social meetup with NYC DAM Meetup, the world’s largest DAM Meetup group (this is free of charge)

The actual DAM NY Conference happens on Thursday, May 7 and Friday, May 8, 2015 with:

  • 40+ case studies, presentations, collaborative working sessions and techlabs across 4 tracks
  • 55+ speakers presenting

You can do early bird registration before Friday March 20, 2015 and save quite a bit.

If you use a discount code, before or after March 20, you will save another $100 off registration.

See you at DAM NY 2015.

Fifth Anniversary of NYC DAM Meetup

On July 20, 2009, Chad Beer started the NYC DAM Meetup with Michael Hollitscher.

When they started this Digital Asset Management specific meetup, I still remember how exciting the idea of having regular events about DAM was. And still is.

We would not have to wait an entire year for the few annual conferences to roll in for a couple days to network with the best in the field. It has become very clear that New York City is the DAM Capital of the world. No other area in the world has more DAM professionals and no other city has more people showing up to DAM specific events than New York City.

In January 2013, the author joined as a Co-Organizer to setup monthly Meetups for the Digital Asset Management community.

We doubled our membership from 300 members back in February 2013 to 600 members in January 2014.

To this day, we are still the world’s largest DAM meetup as seen here: http://digital-asset-management.meetup.com/

How did we do it?

  • Steady topics of interest to the DAM community
  • Great content consisting of panel discussions and speakers
  • Connecting with many like minded professionals willing to speak and share their experiences.
  • Scheduling events after work on weekdays
  • Using a model inclusion, not exclusion. We have rivals sitting next to each other and we are all okay with that. Interested students and job seekers are welcomed just like seasoned professionals.
  • Looking at multiple perspectives across many sectors, not just one.
  • Looking at the real world successes and challenges from the field of DAM. No unicorns and rainbows here.
  • Having a lots of networking opportunities in person.
  • Purposefully maintaining zero budget.
  • Having great organizations to host our events.
  • Maintaining free membership and free attendance to any NYC DAM Meetup. Just RSVP and show up.
  • In May 2013, we got sponsorships to video recording all of our speaking sessions going forward so these could be posted on a YouTube channel for the global DAM community to watch afterward.
  • Oh, I almost forgot… commitment, dedication and hard work. All of the NYC DAM Meetup Organizers do this on their limited spare time as volunteers to benefit their professional community.

You are not alone in the DAM world. It is just a matter of connecting with other professionals.

We will have a NYC DAM meetup scheduled to celebrate our first 5 years this month.

If you are interested in Digital Asset Management, you are always welcome to RSVP and join us in person.

The largest Digital Asset Management Conference is the Henry Stewart DAM Conference  in New York City. In 2014, this DAM Conference will be held on May 1 and May 2.

Your choices of large DAM Conferences are now limited since Createasphere DAM Conferences no longer exist as of December 2013. There are however some vendor specific DAM conferences throughout the year.

Henry Stewart DAM NY is still the longest running and largest DAM Conference available in the DAM market today.

Are you coming to the 2013 Createasphere Digital Asset Management Conference in New York City?

Createasphere is having their annual Digital Asset Management Conference in New York City on October 7 and 8, 2013. There are many new speakers presenting this year.

On October 6, 2013, there is a one-day pre-conference DAM 101 Workshop & Certification.

There is a series of Add-On Seminars:

  • How To Select a DAM System: Best Practices and Pitfalls To Avoid (10/7)
  • Semantics and DAM – You Don’t Know What It Means to Me! (10/7)
  • Metadata Deep Dive (10/8)
  • Jumpstarting Your DAM Implementation with PSV (10/8)

The Conference Program is filled with plenty to listen to, learn from and enrich your knowledge about Digital Asset Management.

Beneficial topics at this year’s conference include:

  • Identify It. Measure It. Monetize It. The Importance of Asset Identification
  • Digital Archives and Content Reuse
  • Brands and Story:  Essential DAM in Transmedia & Cross Platform Content Creation

And this year, I am back to talk about:

  • The People Aspect of DAM: WHO is going to do all this DAM work?

When it comes to the people, process, technology and information aspects of Digital Asset Management, you will hear plenty about the last three. What about those who will actually use the system daily or weekly? What about your users? What about those who will maintain the DAM and know your organization’s workflow inside and out? Does this take additional headcount? Can you simply assign/reassign existing staff to do this? Does this involve temporary or ongoing tasks? Do they really have the time to dedicate to DAM when it was not part of their original job description nor core competency? Do they have what it needed to get the job done? What are your options nowadays? Join us as we address the questions of WHO for your organization. We will address the people part of this equation among those new to DAM, the seasoned DAM practitioners attending for enrichment, DAM experts, HR professionals and technologists.

On October 7, 2013, Createasphere’s Digital Asset Management Conference will have a hosted evening cocktail reception with NYC Digital Asset Managers Meetup Group (RSVP required if you are not attending the conference due to space limitations).

On October 8, 2013, the 4th Annual DAMMY Awards Luncheon will be held to announce and recognize the DAMMY Award winners.

All this will be held at the Westin Grand Central located at:
212 East 42nd Street
New York, NY 10017
